The Molson family broke ground on the Bell Centre in June 1993 in preparation for a new home for the Montreal Canadiens. The arena opened on March 16, 1996, and replaced the Montreal Forum. The Canadiens are a member of the Atlantic Division of the NHL’s Eastern Conference and have won 24 Stanley Cups. Founded in 1909, the club predates the NHL and became one of the league’s Original Six teams.

The Canadiens played their home games in the Montreal Forum for seven decades before moving into the Bell Centre. The team won 22 of its 24 Stanley Cups while based at the Forum.
