Lenovo Center opened in October 1999 and is home to the Carolina Hurricanes and NC State men’s basketball. The building was called Raleigh Entertainment & Sports Arena when it opened, became RBC Center in 2002, PNC Arena in 2012 and Lenovo Center in September 2024.
The franchise now known as the Carolina Hurricanes began as the New England Whalers of the WHA in 1971 and joined the NHL in 1979. For nearly 20 years the team skated as the Hartford Whalers before moving to North Carolina. The Hurricanes won their first Stanley Cup in 2006.
How many seats are in Lenovo Center?
Lenovo Center seats about 18,200 for Hurricanes games and nearly 20,000 for basketball. The arena has lower, club and upper seating levels along with suites and other premium areas.
A multi-year improvement program is changing parts of the building. Completed work includes new premium spaces such as the Lenovo Legend Club, Bunker Suites and View Bar, while other concourse and exterior projects remain in progress. Directions and transportation
Lenovo Center is at 1400 Edwards Mill Road in Raleigh, next to Carter-Finley Stadium and the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Drivers can approach from Interstate 40, Interstate 440, Wade Avenue or Trinity Road. The arena does not have a nearby rail station, so driving and rideshare are the main arrival options for most visitors.
The rideshare pickup and drop-off zone is near Gate C beside the TowneBank Center. Event traffic patterns can restrict turns around Edwards Mill and Trinity roads after a game.
Parking
More than 8,000 spaces surround the arena. Event parking is cashless, and prepaid passes are sold through ParkWhiz. Open times and lot access differ by event, so use the current parking pass and venue map instead of an older PNC-era guide.
Entry, bags and payment
A clutch no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches is allowed. Medical and parenting bags are permitted after X-ray screening. Tickets, parking, concessions and retail purchases are cashless.

Yes. PNC Arena was renamed Lenovo Center in September 2024. It is the same building at 1400 Edwards Mill Road.
