Madison Square Garden, or MSG as it is usually called, is in Midtown Manhattan and is home to the New York Rangers and the NBA’s New York Knicks. The current Garden sits between Seventh and Eighth avenues and West 31st and 33rd streets and is the fourth venue to bear the name. It opened on February 11, 1968.
The Rangers were formed in 1926 and are one of the NHL’s Original Six teams. They have played at Madison Square Garden from the beginning, initially when the venue was on Eighth Avenue between 49th and 50th streets. The team has won four Stanley Cups, beginning in 1927-28 and most recently in 1993-94.
Over three offseasons from 2010 to 2013, The Garden underwent a major transformation. The work added wider concourses, new seating and dining areas, upgraded video systems, and the two Chase Bridges suspended above the seating bowl.

Directions – How to get to Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden is at 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, directly above Penn Station. The 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E subway lines stop at 34th Street-Penn Station, and Long Island Rail Road and NJ Transit trains also arrive beneath the arena. The 34th Street-Herald Square subway complex is one block east.
Where to Park Near Madison Square Garden?
MSG does not have a dedicated public parking garage. Privately operated garages surround the arena, but traffic and event rates can make driving difficult. Public transportation is usually the simplest option. If driving, reserve a space before the event and follow the garage’s arrival instructions.
